Will she find the answers in time?

Available as a paperback and on Kindle Unlimited

The Killer on the Heath is the first of a forthcoming trilogy.

Meet Cassie, the main protagonist in a character interview on the blog of J. M. Northup

He could be anywhere, I realised. He might be striding down this very street, seemingly normal. That’s what made him even more dangerous. He could be choosing another victim from the crowd while everyone else just thought him to be a regular guy. They wouldn’t know what he’s done, or the life he’s taken for his own gratification.’

I considered how and why people could be so cruel to each other. When I’d asked Seb, he’d said, “Not everyone’s wired the same. Some people think what they’re doing is okay.”“How is that possible?” I’d asked him.

“Take Plinth,” he continued, “being brought up by parents who didn’t give a damn and mistreated him set the stage for the man he’d become. He didn’t have a proper standard to compare to, and the power he enjoyed only reaffirmed his beliefs.”

“You can stop that right now!” A shrill voice crashed into us, throwing us apart guiltily. His mother stood in the doorway, disapproval written all over her face. For a fraction of a second, her eyes lingered on my chest where my nipple stood erect. Once more she had caught me in a compromising position. I felt like a child being found doing something I shouldn’t. What is it with this woman? Couldn’t she have waited until we returned?!

Take a look at some of the reviews

This YA thriller is a great mix between suspense and the repercussions of teen-age bullying.
Billy, the victim of teen-age bullying, goes on a summer work trip in Scotland. She meets some new friends, including Shane, and begins to feel accepted. All seems to be going well, until the bodies begin to pile up. The twists, including the final twist, keep the reader engaged and the pages flying.
This book well-written and engaging. I look forward to reading more of her work.

This is a dark thriller that keeps you turning pages until the end. You see the darkness that everyone has within them and how people cope with how life treats them. The bullying is rough, but dark actions of people bring out the macabre situation of having to get justice of it all. Paranormal twist to this.

This story has subtle meanings within the pages and has a steady flow. I hung on each word and was ready to flip to the next page. An engaging story.

This book had me intrigued. It is smooth flowing and a quick/easy read. I could picture every scene.

‘Karina draws a thin line between FACT & FICTION.’

If being bullied through every school Billy went to wasn’t enough, being attacked in her own home just pushed her over the edge.

Now severely depressed and suicidal, Billy takes matters into her own hands and sees a counsellor. After just one session, she’s now on her way to Scotland as a volunteer to help the Professor of Edinburgh university, dig and clean up an archaeological site that has just been discovered.

Although she tries to shy away from the others, not wanting them to find a reason to dislike her, she’s soon accepted as one of them. Without realising it’s happening, she becomes closer to Shane, a motocross enthusiast who has taken her under his wing.

However, whilst working at the site, Billy comes across an unusual stone. She takes it to the Professor to be looked at, but he dismisses it as a pendant probably dropped by a hiker and so threads the stone with a black leather cord and gives it back to Billy.

Only the peace they once had, the friendships they had all formed, gets tested as bodies start to pile up.

“A suspenseful short supernatural story that kept me hooked right up to the last page – I loved the twist at the end.”

You’re Never Too Old To Write That Book.

Mark M Bello was 65 when he wrote his first crime thriller.

Back in the 80’s when he was an accident and injury attorney, a case landed the small law firm he ran with his partner, that later, he based his debut novel on.

Coming up to date, he now has 7 novels in the Zachary Blake Crime Thriller series. Each book is based on an injustice that’s happened in America. And Mark covers them all. And he doesn’t seemed to be slowing down either. Mark wants to entertain, while highlighting the facts of how the justice system works or doesn’t work when it comes to some important cases and issues that affect America.

However, Mark is not stopping at just adult thrillers. He’s even working on a children book series that talks about the injustice of what can happen in a child’s life, such as bullying, prejudice and so forth.

So remember the name, as Mark isn’t afraid to stand up (or write about) his opinions and what he truly believes. As the saying goes, ‘The Pen Is Mightier Than The Sword’ and Mark is proving that with the issues he’s taking on in his books.

Bringing History To Life!

Elliott Mason debut novel was The Arlington Order, which takes two major events in history in the Civil War era, orders for the assassination attempt on Confederate President Jefferson Davis, and the mystery of the gold treasure that vanished without a trace. Moving on 150 years later two historians stumble on clues. (no spoilers)

His second book is an exciting thriller adventure, but you’ll have to watch this episode of Behind The Pen, where I chat with Elliot to find out more about it.

When Streets of Fire came out in 1984 with the catchphrase “A Rock & Roll Fable“, you would’ve never thought that it was the perfect one for a book that was more than 30 years away from being written. –
Sisterhood, trauma, friendship, family, self-worth, power, respect and reputation are some of the many themes this book deals with, and the author doesn’t forget to induce the reader to reflect upon the role of violence in human nature and the power it has to change someone’s character.
Lawless Justice is a female tale that embraces universal concepts that are in every single one of us and the novel is a powerful page-turner that will have you always wanting for more

Strong Characters Unleash Their Claws in Suspenseful Psychological Thriller About Vigilantism and Living A Double Life
One of the more intriguing aspects of this book is how expectations are subverted on who joins these gangs. The Kittnz are not high school dropouts, drug addicts, wayward girls in their teens and twenties from broken homes. These are women in their late 20’s-30’s in successful careers and day jobs, everything from doctor, lawyer, psychotherapist, photographer, mechanic, and journalist. By day they work and act as pillars of the community, but by night they vent out their frustrations and commit acts of violence. They have real names and identities, but are known primarily by their gang names: Raven (the leader), Scarlet, Jade, Eve, Storm, and Cass’ new name, Ice. In fact once Ice gets her new moniker, the third person narration refers to her with that name even when she is with family members and acquaintances outside the gang. It is a subtle reminder that the old abused victim, Cass is dead and in her place is Ice, a woman who seeks action. with the cold detachment that her name suggests.

An Apple A Day Keeps Amazon Away!

So we all know Amazon as the leaders in the marketplace. And it’s we little indie authors that made that happen when they created the Kindle. We sent Amazon up in a rocket. However, we have no legal standing with them. They can remove our books, change book categories, take away our reviews and they don’t even inform us. What we should be doing is using Amazon as a bookshelf only and direct our readers to the many other outlets.

Ever since one disastrous night during World War 2, a third of the world’s population has carried the potential to “roll into power.” No one can predict which few will actually go through the change, and there’s only one, tragic certainty: rolling before the age of forty is a death sentence.

Passing into middle age might be uneventful, marked only by extra candles on your birthday cake, but it might lead to becoming a human fireball, drowning a city, or teleporting into outer space.

Rough Passages presents the stories of five people forever changed and con

ales of Crime & Violence are a compilation of many of my short, and not so short stories.

The ideas and inspiration are many and as varied as each of the individual stories themselves.

Although all the tales in these books are about committing crime, or being involved in acts of violence, the real story is that of the people involved, why and how they came to be in this position, whether they were forced or coerced, willing participants or victims themselves.

The stories in this collection of three volumes have underlying factors, deeper meanings, twists and stings to savour and enjoy.

I hope you enjoy reading these tales as much I have enjoyed writing them.

A QUESTIONABLE SUICIDE… A DETECTIVE’S SUSPICION… AND A DESPERATE HUNT FOR A SERIAL KILLER BEFORE MORE VICTIMS ARE FOUND.

New York Police Department’s Sixteenth Precinct in Manhattan is under siege by the flu, and Detective Nick Larson and his partner, Detective Victor Sacco, are up to their armpits with work overload. The captain’s cigar is seriously chewed, and everyone is working around the clock. To complicate matters, on a personal level, things aren’t going smoothly, either. Laura Howard, the woman Nick loves, is also having issues with a psycho twin sister who is doing everything to ruin Laura’s business and her life.

Then Nick’s captain assigns a new case, a suicide. From the moment Nick steps on scene, however, something doesn’t feel quite right, especially when, upon investigating the case further, the supposed suicide looks more and more like an actual homicide. Immediately, Nick’s instincts kick into gear, but rev into overdrive when similar, questionable suicides pop up around the area. And with the way things have been going lately, it would just be Nick’s luck to have a serial killer on the loose.

Set in New York City, Hanging Softly in the Night is a story of murder, mental illness, determination, dedication, perseverance, and, ultimately, justice.

Strong Characters Unleash Their Claws in Suspenseful Psychological Thriller About Vigilantism and Living A Double Life

Vigilantism and gang membership has a certain appeal to some people. Like the beginning of The Godfather when undertaker, Bonasera, can’t find justice from the police against the WASP bullies who raped and nearly murdered his daughter. He realizes that for real justice, he must go to Don Vito Corleone. Some people become vigilantes or appeal to gangs when they feel that the system not only won’t help them, but favor the oppressors.

That’s the situation in Karina Kantas’ suspenseful psychological thriller, Lawless Justice book three of her Outlaw Series. When someone is hurt in an abusive situation or is the victim of a crime from a powerful untouchable villain, then for justice these people go not to the police, but to the Kittnz (sic), an all female biker gang that unsheath their claws and enact swift retribution for those who are oppressed and victimized.

The Kittnz are seen through the eyes of Cass, a journalist coming off an abusive relationship. She returns to her home of Milton Keynes, and during a night out with her sister encounters the gang for the first time. The Kittnz may have the name, but they are more like the Big Cats in town. They are beautiful women who drive their own motorcycles, wear leather jackets, and will pick a fight with anyone in their way. Cass is fascinated by this strange gang, but even more so when they save her life after a confrontation with two men. Cass recuperates in their hideout and is eventually invited to join the gang.

Lawless Justice walks a fine but distinct line with it’s characters. The Kittnz are clearly the protagonists. Their motives are understandable, but their actions are extremely violent. They will defend a battered wife by beating the daylights out of her abusive husband or give a verbal and physical warning to some White Supremacist youths to leave an immigrant family alone.

But sometimes their behaviors spin out of control like when they take retribution so far as to burn an enemy’s house down. They also aren’t above threatening members who want to get out. The book stops short of glorifying The Kittnz’s behavior or making them heroes, but it does go into the roots of why people join gangs or go to them for help. As regular women, they had been oppressed, abused, marginalized, threatened, and dismissed by authority figures so they feel that they have no choice but to strike back at those who harm them and others who are in the same situation.

It is a subtle reminder that the old abused victim, Cass is dead and in her place is Ice, a woman who

seeks action. with the cold detachment that her name suggests.

The book does not gloss over the violent ending that results from such a life. There is plenty of betrayal and second guessing of motives. Some characters get seriously hurt and others don’t make it. The gang life is a violent, angry, short, and ultimately self-destructive one and this book makes no mistake about that.

The Kittnz of Lawless Justice may be badass, but their book is the purrfect blend of action and psychology into the people who are motivated by violence and the actions that they commit.

When Streets of Fire came out in 1984 with the catchphrase “A Rock & Roll Fable“, you would’ve never thought that it was the perfect one for a book that was more than 30 years away from being written. –
