Day 20 #MarchoftheWriter

 Block Breakers

The dreaded writer’s block.
It’s more the loss of the muse or inspiration, and there’s one tried and tested method that I always use.
I ask my fans on my FaceBook author page, to give me three random words. I collect all the words and write them down into three rows. Then I randomly choose a word from each row and they are the three words I have to use in my flash fiction. They can be plural and changed to suit the sentence, but the word I use must come from the original word, and you can use the word in the title. They are the rules of the prompt. And the flash fiction can be any length, but I try not to go over 1000. After I’ve completed the challenge, I get my creative juices back and can return to the MS and the scene that stopped me in my tracks and finish it.

Here’s one of my favourite flash fiction. The words were jelly, butterfly and corpse.

Butterfy Effect

Who would volunteer their face for a scientific experiment? Well, I wouldn’t. Neither would any sane member of the public, which is why inmates serving life sentences were handed over for this government project.

By the time the bill passed, freedom of speech had been demolished. So, there were very few demonstrations.

Now the famous chemist, biologists and DNA experts had one year to perfect an antidote for ugliness.

Being branded ugly put you in a new class, the lowest in society. Ugly people were shunned and segregated by the butterflies of the modem regime. The ugly people were forced to live and work in the poorest parts of the country. However, even that wasn’t enough to satisfy the beautiful people. It was announced that if the wondrous treatment did not work, then drastic measures would be taken.

I swallowed the bile that rose in my throat as I barely glanced at the deformed face of what used to be prisoner X. Taking a deep breath I forced myself to look again, before turning to Dr. Sapphire Turner.

“That’s nothing,” she said, her brilliant teeth beaming their brightness at me, her voice soft like her young glowing skin. “You should have seen the last batch. It was like looking at the face of a jellied corpse.” Her perfectly proportioned breasts bounced as she laughed.

Jellied corpse seemed a valid description of what I was looking at, I thought. My stomach wouldn’t digest a worse vision.

Prisoner X’s skin had mutated into large pus-filled abscesses. As I watched, the skin bubbled and new boils appeared and then burst with a squelch. The vile stench of the mucus, as it ran down the crusty skin and soaked into the now lime green pillow, made me want to vomit. Covering my mouth and turning my head away from the sight, I swallowed the acidic saliva before addressing the stunning Doctor.

“So, what went wrong with this one?” I asked.

“Nothing,” she chirped. “The result is what we expected.”

Her hand touched my shoulder, but it was quickly removed in disgust.

“It’s trial-and-error at this point, but we’ll find a cure.”

The way she used the word cure made my skin crawl. Ugliness wasn’t a disease and who gave them the fucking right to judge?

I would never have classified myself as ugly, but the yellow armband I was forced to wear told me there were others that did. It doesn’t matter that I’m one of the lucky ones; permitted to continue working among perfection. I remained an outcast waiting for my sentencing; beatification or annihilation.

Day Two

Show and tell your books.

Agh… my favourite pastime. Where to begin. At the start, where else!

The first book I had published was In Times of Violence YA edition (currently working on the adult edition)

1) In Times of Violence started as an 18 A4 page typed
(yes, I said typed) story.

2) S.E.Hinton and her book, The Outsiders, was the reason I wrote ITOV.

3) A woman was reading the book by a pool and was so caught in the story, she didn’t see or hear her boyfriend calling to her as he got cramp, and was going under. Oops.

Then came Huntress Dark MC romance 18+ due to explicit scenes and graphic violence.

  1. I had no plans to write a sequel to ITOV, but the fans demanded it, and you have to give them what they want.
  2. Readers have said Huntress is like reading a script from, the SOA TV series, created and written by Kurt Sutter. Who has a warped mind and awesome acting abilities. (My book was out way before their MS hit the table.)

After two male-oriented MC novels, I wanted the women to have their turn. Book three is a vigilante thriller MC novel called Lawless Justice.

  1. I got the idea for this bad ass biker MC, from the film Death Proof, staring Kurt Russel and written and directed by Quentin Tarantino.
  2. There is a message in the front of the book, to the awesome actor, film critiqe and oscar winning director, Quentin Tarantino.
  3. Lawless Justice is the book that the fans want to see turned into a movie! Guess who I would have as my director? ….. Yep, you got it. Quentin Taratnino. ( Are you seeing a pattern here?)

The last book in the series is Road Rage it’s a stand-alone read. 18+ because of the graphic violent scenes and the explicit sexual scenes.

  1. One of the smaller characters in Lawless Justice is the main character in Road Rage. I needed to tell her story.
  2. Road Rage is the second most popular book in my collection.
  3. It was the film Biker Boyz, that inspire me to write the storyline about another MC. The clean-cut public superbike racing team, Rage.

Moving on- this was my first (and won’t be the last) Dark Mafia Romance, Broken Chains. I enjoyed writing this book so much, and I had loads of fun with it. 18+ due to explicit content and graphic violence.

  1. Broken Chains became my number one bestseller.
  2. Broken Chains won the Top Pick Award from Author Shout and was nominated in the top indie books of 2021 by Joe Compton, owner of the indie media platform, Go Indie Now.
  3. Broken Chains book trailer which I created, won an award at an International Film Festival for Best Female Director for thriller short.

Moving on to my collections. Heads & Tales is a collection of flash fiction in a mixture of fiction genres.

  1. Head and Tales was inspired by the song titles of Iron Maiden’s album Best of the Beast.

    2) At least 18 of these 28 flash fiction stories, were previously published in magazines and newspapers.

    3) I won a t-shirt from a magazine for my horror story Crossed for being so bad and cliche, then the following month the same short story won first prize in an international horror short story contest. ( oh, yeah, I made sure the magazine knew about that win.)

Undressed, is my second collection, It has poetry, prose, short fiction and writing prompts.

  1. I held a cover contest. This cover was painted ( I have the original), it was everything I was looking for.
  2. Amazon ( groan) continues to keep putting Undressed in the erotica categories when there is no mention of sex in the book.
  3. I had many of the poems in the book, originally published in magazines and ezines.

On to my YA fantasy romance, duology, Illusional Reality. Book one.

  1. The first book Illusional Reality was inspired by The Fellowship of the Ring from LOTR.
  2. Illusional Reality has the most reviews, out of all my books and has won three awards so far.
  3. Although, fantasy, there is no stereotype characters. There are no elves, dwarfs, wizards, goblins, trolls, etc and yet Illusional Reality is full of new characters and lots of magic.
  4. There is an audiobook out for Book 1 of Illsuonal Reality.

Book two of the duology, The Quest

  1. The duology is a duology in itself. The main character has two sides to her in each book.
  2. The second book is inspired by The Two Towers, LOTR
  3. No, there’s no third book like there was in LOTR
  4. A publisher contacted me and asked if I would like to sign up with them.
  5. The Illusional Reality has a colouring book out as well.

Stone Cold is a YA supernatural thriller.

  1. Stone Cold is the most biographical book out of all my stories.
  2. I did more research for this book than any of my other books.
  3. The book is based in Scotland even though my experiences happen in Wales.
  4. There is an audiobook for Stone Cold
  5. The book trailer for Stone Cold has won 3 International Film Festivals awards. ( you can check the trailers up on the main menu bar)

Toxic is a sci-fi dystopian erotica (yes I like making up my own genres.)

  1. Toxic is a collaboration with another author, Karen J Mossman. We got together on camera and spent 2 hours plotting, scheming and coming up with a fascinating dystopian world.

    2) There are two versions of the same book, one naughty (mine) and one nice (Karen’s)

    3) Toxic will soon be removed and republished with a new cover and a publisher. They have taken on all the books and are keeping the naughty and nice theme.

    4) Toxic is a trilogy. The first draft of book 2 is ready and we’ll be working on book 3 later this year.

A Flash of Horror – A collection of flash fiction from the horror genre. (in case that wasn’t obvious)

  1. A Flash of Horror is flash fiction taken from Heads & Tales, Undressed and a couple of original flash, that I wrote for the collection.
  2. The paperback version of the book is pocket sized. Yes, you can actualy keep it in your handbag, or pocket.

The other two fiction books are In Times of Violence, adult edition (to go with the original OUTLAW series.)
And the box set of Illusional Reality.

And that’s not all. I’ve been working on a small project with my youngest daughter. Take a look.

THE INVISIBLE AUTHOR

Many independent authors feel invisible. They write, publish and promote their books as well as they can, but they still can’t get sales, can’t find readers and can’t get reviews. In this episode of Behind The Pen, I chat with Mark Anthony Tierno. This is an author that has been writing and publishing for years. With over 30 books to his name and the size of these novels are enormous. We’re talking close to War and Peace size. But don’t let the size of his books put you off. The magic, the characters and the world building in his series Maldene, could rival the epic fantasy adventure, Lord Of The Rings.

Let me introduce you to Mark Anthony Tierno

Please help Mark become a visible author, by sharing and even reading his work.

Two genres that shouldn’t go together but they work!

That’s right! TOXIC ebook is free to download right now!

“I’ve read several Electric Eclectic Books and these novelettes have provided a vast array of genres and authors. They break the mold once again by presenting the same story in both an adult erotic version that’s steamy hot and a touching, romantic read. I decided to read the adult version first. Written by author Karina Kantas, this is a no holds barred sensual exploration of passion in a dystopian society.

One hundred years in the future after the world has been changed by acid rain, a Malok named Lexi is straining against the rules of the new society. Lexi hungers for action and decides becoming a Ranger is her way out of her dull life. But her live-in boyfriend Aron doesn’t believe she is strong enough to take on the role of a fighter against the Outcasts. That group has been banned from the Malok’s mountain base, Mount Elta.

Aron loves her, but he treats her like a child, and she chafes under his attempts to control her. They have an intense sexual relationship, but Lexi is often distracted by the memory of a young friend who left years earlier, Marcus
When Marcus suddenly reappears, Lexi is thrust back into her feelings for him. But their reunion is spoiled by the simultaneous arrival of a girl who bullied her in her youth, Mae. When it appears Marcus and Mae are a couple Lexi is heartbroken. She resists Marcus’s attempts to speak to her privately because she feels betrayed. It is only when tragedy strikes the Rangers that Lexi is forced to see things the way they truly are.

This is more than a sexy love story; this is a book about a world changed by disaster and people separated by their responses to overwhelming change. There are two societies, each seeking to utilize a resource for their own needs, and willing to fight to the death to remain in control.

Lexi is a strong young woman and represents the courage and independence of today’s women. She is lusty, brave, challenging, and daring. Although she is young, she knows what she wants and despite occasional reservations, she doesn’t hesitate to pursue her dreams.

I recommend this as a quick read that dips into the possible disasters of a future society where our refusal to address negative environmental behaviors leaves the world desolate and poisoned.”

“A sensual, erotic read…Karina dares to figure out the nature of passion…thoughtful and thought-provoking.”

Lexi isn’t your normal Malok. She craves adventure and freedom from the mundane life forced upon her. 100 years ago, the first drop of acid rain fell. Maloks fled to the mountains, building a new way of life—a desolate life—a life Lexi knows all too well.

Lexi has a plan, her ticket out of this miserable existence, becoming a ranger. Aron, her partner, believes she’s not strong enough to fight alongside him. Lexi will stop at nothing, no matter what the danger, to achieve her independence, even if that means defying him.

Amidst everything, Marcus, Lexi’s childhood best friend makes a sudden return. Before she can rejoice in a reunion, her happiness is crushed when she sees Mae, the bully that had terrorized her in her teens. Marcus was aware of the mental abuse Lexi had suffered and yet the person she loved and the person she hated the most, stand before her, together.

“A surprising powerful dystopian thriller that captures the heart and imagination”.

*WARNING ADULTS ONLY***

Check out the book trailer.

The FIRE is out of control.

The 10th book in the amazing Pseudoverse Series is now released.

Welcome to the deepest, darkest part of your mind, Pseudos!
A probe sent into space is back on Earth, taken over the planet, demanded all of the women travel back to planet Kepler425b, all the while manipulating all life on Earth including A.I. and robots.

Fire asks the questions, “where did we come from, and how did we get here? If humanity found out that it was about to be put to the ultimate test, how would the entire planet react?” This sequel to Ice is about love, compassion, understanding, and of course, humans and robots living together in the 22nd century. If we could cohabitate with artificial intelligence and conceive children, would we risk everything to carry on a legacy? Can we meld with A.I. and still be human? Once we reach the age of Transhumanism, we can never go back. Would we want to if we knew that our ancestors were once―? There is no denying the truth once you know it is for real.

Fire combines all of the elements that most conspiracy theorists hold dear to their hearts, such as robotics, A.I., alien Intervention, Egyptology, and solar alignment. We wouldn’t forget to include time travel, prognostication, and many other subjects that would fill the halls of a science and historical fiction museum. Starting where Ice left off, Fire will breathe chaos into a world that is overrun with Robokopias and send you on the roller coaster ride of your life. If you don’t believe a novel can be this much fun, try to put this baby down once you have started reading. I hope you enjoy the madness that is the Pseudoverse as your favorite characters, and some new ones, come back to try to save humanity from a twenty-seven-year-old mistake.

Pseudos, welcome to the Blade Zone. You are about to get your brain assaulted seven ways from Monday. This novel deals with two subjects that most people love to talk about quite regularly, artificial intelligence, and ancient aliens. I hope you find this take on these subjects entertaining and thrilling. I have melded both of these subjects together because I believe one day we will find out that one has to do with the other, and we were right all along about most of our theories on these subjects. There is just too much evidence on planet earth to ignore the facts. As our antagonist says to Ray Nelson in this novel:

“At one time, humans were smarter than they were today. Look at how long it took you to become technologically perceptive. If humans have been here for thousands of years, why did it take you only two-hundred of those years to go from steam power to developing artificial intelligence? I will tell you why. You only have broken the barrier of your brainpower at around twelve percent. Imagine what you could have done with the fifty to seventy-five, or even eighty percent that you started with.”

I want to share a quote with you about Artificial Intelligence:

“Anything that could give rise to smarter-than-human intelligence – in the form of Artificial Intelligence, brain-computer interfaces, or neuroscience-based human intelligence enhancement – wins hands down beyond contest as doing the most to change the world. Nothing else is even in the same league.” —Eliezer Yudofsky

I sincerely hope you enjoy the novel that has been one year in the making.

A little bit about CG Blade and his backstory…
“Great novels comfort the disturbed, and disturb the comfortable.”

Soaking up every English class in two colleges, he remained steadfast to writing the Pseudoverse Series for the past twenty years. Readers are very familiar with the “jaw-dropping, neck-snapping plot twists” in the Pseudoverse Series of novels. Lightning strikes CG Blade’s powerful creative side regularly, as he never stops writing between novels. The Pseudoverse novels are a “mash-up” of historical fiction, science fiction, horror, and plenty of dark humor and sarcasm. A love of the series “Fringe,” “Universal and Hammer Sci-Fi/Horror” films, and the great minds of authors such as Huxley, Orwell, Dick, Lovecraft, Nelson, Bradbury, Heinlein, Wells, and many others, are the foundation for CG’s writing. CG Blade’s style and technique is a derivative all his own turned upside-down as he takes you through a world of New Order using technology as the ultimate master race.

Author, creative writer, Transhumanist, Pseudosynth, and former robotic engineer and programmer, CG is an avid science fiction reader and lover of twisting, ever-turning plots. Taking the reader down many thrilling cyber roads and mysterious paths, his narratives rely heavily on past and present scientific, historical research, and the human condition. Melding the past, present, and future, these stories are carefully mixed and stirred with music lyrics, real people, historical fiction, and the potential of artificial intelligence run amok. Fused with satirical commentary and the first musical “Grindhouse” intermissions in novels (Including poetry), he continues his fiction writing with Amaranth, Gold, Amber, Copper, Radium, and Turquoise, and Granite. He currently lives in Ohio with his wife Jackie, and their two rambunctious but lovable cats, Jeri Boo, and Bullet.

“Science fiction’s message should be subtle. Like a robotic finger pushing through your skull, poking around, waking you up.” CG Blade
http://www.pseudosynthpress.com

“The Pseudoverse Series has everything you love in one set of fantastic novels! These are the most gripping, twisting, turning, and well-written series of futuristic historical fiction novels you will ever lay your hands on. You will be asking yourself, “why didn’t I come across these sooner?” The cliffhangers from novel to novel suck you in like no other series you have read in a long time. Kudos to CG, and his extensive research into all things scary, including “politics by mind-control.”” – Karen S. – Amazon Review

A creative Page turner – Book 1  – RAINBOW DREAMS   *****

“Rainbow Dreams” by Mistral Dawn is a page-turner. You can’t help rooting for Petri, a struggling outcast in a cruel world. She’s a hybrid with forbidden powers and, when Petri came into her powers, “they hadn’t brought an instruction manual with them.” This creative alien world can be seen as mirroring the stratified society in our world. Upworlders have luxuries and security unknown to the struggling Underworlders. And for poor Upworlders, ”their one comfort in life” came from feeling better off than and superior to Underworlders. Plot, world, and characters are all excellent, and it’s nicely set up for a sequel. Well done!

Superb Sci-Fi stories-  Book 2 INTRINSIC CONNECTIONS  *****

I greatly enjoyed RAINBOW DREAMS, the Petri Dish Chronicles Book One. Such is my pessimism, that when I love the first book of a series, I often await its sequel with a little apprehension. “Will it be as good as its predecessor?” I worry. Thankfully, with Mistral Dawn’s latest, my fears were unjustified, emphatically so.

Firstly, I would like to echo the synopsis: it’s advisable to read the first book before the second. Sounds obvious, I know, but this is a true series; the characters develop significantly from the beginning of the first to the end of the second.

In a way, INTRINSIC CONNECTIONS is a departure from RAINBOW DREAMS – but not in a bad way. Sci-fi aficionados will be particularly impressed by the quality of the speculative thinking. Some of the ideas are, as far as I know, completely novel, which is an achievement in itself. The “bad guys”, the Arcanum, are superb, completely unlike anything I’ve read before. They might look like Area 51 style aliens, but their power is absolute. Daji, a feared Paka warrior, is puny compared to the Arcanum and its collective consciousness. However, it appears they may have met their match, in more ways than one.

The Blind Alien is a story with a highly original concept, fascinating characters, and not-too-subtle but truthful allegories. Don’t let the sci-fi label or alternate Earth setting fool you–this is a compelling and contemporarily relevant story about race, sex, and social classes.”
Still priced at just 0.99c for the ebook.

The epic opens when Malcolm Renbourn, a young history teacher, walks into an ordinary bank on an ordinary day. Suddenly, he feels excruciating pain. Unexpectedly, he loses his sight and discovers he has been drawn against his will across the multi-verse to a slave-holding country on a parallel earth. He doesn’t understand a single word he hears, but he soon comprehends that he is the focal point in the quest to end a plague that kills three out of four male babies their first year on Beta-Earth.
Branded state property, he must escape, but where can a blind man in a strange world dominated by desperate scientists run? And on a world where polygamy is the norm, how can Malcolm Renbourn adapt into becoming the husband of five independent wives who never expected to be the mothers of a generation a planet hopes to carry the genes that will change everything? And that’s just part of the story.

Excerpt from The Wayward Missiles. Hard-scifi by Wesley Britton.

Available on Amazon 99c
https://www.amazon.com/Wayward-Missiles-Beta-E…/…/B07QQDB7NJ

The following scene was culled from the short story, “The Wayward Missiles” set during the Alman Civil War. We see Larakey Rimudas, the leader of a Kirip resistance cell, and Jolcolm Renbourn, the half-alien son of the “Blind Alien” from Alpha-Earth, hunting missile parts the Almans are manufacturing to create new and more deadly weapons.

*****

Less than an half-hour later, Larakey, Jolcolm, and their company laid low in the brush along a gravel road where a giant tree had fallen across the gravel. Waiting for the Alman transports was now a matter of quiet patience.

As their wait continued for longer than they expected, Jolcolm speculated, “It could be that they have finished their move. We may be too late to grab a missile from them.”

Larakey softly replied, “There will be another. We know at least one transport is on the move. Patience is our only weapon right now.”

“While we have this time to burn, there’s something I want to ask you, Larakey, something important, regarding your daughter, Hiqqa.”

“You’d like her to be your first wife. I think everyone knows that, young Renbourn. On one finger, I like that idea. On another, what would happen to Hiqqa if you are killed? Her heart would be shattered.”

“All I can do is try to get killed not.”

“That is a good thing to hope for. So we can resume this conversation when the fighting is over.”

Suddenly, the company heard the motor of an Alman truck pulling up in front of the fallen tree.

The rebels saw one soldier run up to the passenger side of the driver’s cabin, get orders to move the obstruction, and saw five Almans go up to move the tree while two others guarded the truck from one side of the road, two others did the same on the other.

But, very quickly, the tree-movers realize they needed more muscle to dislodge the tree. So one soldier from each side of the road abandoned guard duty to help out.

Nah Olot, not the only rebel feeling itchy trigger-fingers, whispered to her commander, “Larakey?”

“Wait.”

Jolcolm whispered with conviction, “We can take them.”

Again Larakey ordered, “Wait. One more minute.”

The Almans moved the tree a foot or so, but that was not nearly enough clearance. So they called for the two remaining guards to help.

The guards shouldered their chrons and headed for the tree. As their sergeant commanded everyone to “Lift!”, the twenty rebels stormed out of the bushes and trees and mowed down all the Almans they could see.

Nah Olot ran behind the truck and stopped, his chron pointed into the covered bed. He paused, a big smile forming on his face.

At the same time, Jolcolm stood at the commander’s window, his chron pointed at the commander’s head. Flancono covered the driver on the other side of the truck.

Jolcolm ordered the commander to come out quietly, and the haughty woman complied.

“You make a big mistake,” the commander said. “My Colonel expects this truck soon. If it arrives not on schedule . . .”

Smiling, Jolcolm replied, “Take off your clothes.”

“What? I will do no such thing. I am an officer of the Alman Land forces . . .”

In response, Jolcolm fired a dart between the commander’s feet. The commander started undressing.

While Jolcolm watched the Luntaist, Larakey stepped up to the back of the truck, several of her soldiers joining her.

Her eyes widened with disbelief when she saw Nah Olot in the back of the truck next to stacks of pravine cases. He popped a bottle open and took a big chug.

Looking at Larakey’s face, Nah Olot observed, “It seems we have captured their pravine provisions!”

While most of the soldiers let loose with a big cheer as Nah Olot began passing around bottles, Larakey’s shoulders slumped as she turned away. If she didn’t fear being seen, she wanted to cry with disappointment and torment. All those corpses lying in the road over pravine? War was such an abominable waste. She would never forget her decisions this day. Would her sleep ever be peaceful again?

Near the front of the pravine truck, the Luntist commander dropped her pants and stood rigidly in her underpants and not much else.

Nodding with acceptance, Jolcolm instructed “Now, run!”

The Alman started running in the direction the truck was heading before Jolcolm stopped her and ordered her to run back where the truck had come from. As she ran past the back of the truck where the exhilarated Kirippeans were enjoying their unexpected bounty of potent drinks, she got a rousing round of cheers, laughter, and applause.

Larakey approached Jolcolm and told him what the truck contained. She complained, “No missile parts, no secret components, just pravines. Those bodies up there died for pravines!”

Jolcolm looked intently into Larakey’s eyes, knowing what he would find. That haunted expression of those who had made important judgment calls that resulted in catastrophe.

He had known that expression all his life – his family had been at the center of more than their share of earth-shaking events.

So he knew he should speak of things much less intense than slaughtering Almans to distract Larakey. “From what I hear back there, the troops are enjoying this cargo. And, at least, we have another truck. We need to get it off this road and around that tree. Could be a major pain considering the difficulties the Luntaists had with it.”

Suddenly his ears perked up and he stood stock still. “Listen,” he advised as he heard a distant whistle in the sky. Both Larakey and Jolcolm were innvigorated by the sound, both knowing what it meant.

Larakey cried, “Come with me!” The pair raced up the hill on the one side of the road.

At the hill’s top, Larakey looked up and pointed, “There!”

A beam or so away, a missile zoomed through the sky. But, it looked like it was wobbling as it swerved to the left and fell to the earth in a fast descent. After it disappeared behind some distant trees, Jolcolm and Larakey wore puzzled expressions. For there was no explosion.

“It exploded not,” Jolcolm mused.

With enthusiasm, Larakey replied, “Let’s go find it! Hurry!” They dashed back down the hill to the truck.

EXCERPT

Kalma: Alnenia turned her cran to one side and looked thoughtful. “It’s the fourth day,” she said to herself. “It is finally seeming to work.” Her face told that she had come to a decision. “Yes, it is the time for truth.” She sat back and smiled. “Know you anything,” she asked, “about the Ming-ti plant?”

“No, I know not,” I told her cold. “What is the Ming-ti plant?”

She picked up a skol-stick and tapped it nervously on her desk. “It really should be Doret or Elsbeth to explain it. What I know, they told me. The Ming-ti plant is a heaf that grows not natural on the Old Continent. It’s one Doret ordered seeds for from
Menzia. It’s a powerful, ah, ah, well, when its leaves are dried and cooked into foods as spices or ground into powder and put into nectars, it, ah, ah,” she smiled broad, “considerably enflames our natural drive to be speared. It creates a strong need, very strong, in women for a man-stalk bonding. In your case, the results should be very, very interesting.”

“Interesting!” I thundered. “You’ve poisoned me and call that interesting! What mean you?”

Alnenia looked hurt and shook her head. “Poisoned? Oh no, there is
nothing toxic in Ming-ti. The only possible trouble you could have is, well, if you were unable to act on the stimulus inside you. But,” her smile returned, “your acting on it is the point. It is long past time for Malcolm to part your legs with full thrusts in between.”

I stood and paced before her desk. Questions filled me, and the first was obvious.

“Have you others taken this Ming-ti?”

“No,” Alnenia admitted. “We knew nothing of it until Doret spoke of it after our visit to the Mother-Icealt. None of us, ah, have ever needed the stimulus. We thought of experimenting with it, naturally. For Doret, she’d probably only need a very small amount. Then again, all Malcolm has to do is reach his hand up her tunic, play with her nipples, and irresistible shockwaves, well, you know. Or soon will.”

She laughed. “Joline is about your body weight although not as strongly built or muscled.” She laughed again. “But, then again, you’d only have to show Joline the plant, tell her of its purpose, and its effect would be complete on sight.”

I stared at her. “So, how much of this Ming-ti is in my blood?”

Her eyes lit up. “That’s what is extraordinary! Very, very extraordinary! Again, Doret can better answer your questions. Normally, I understand, one meal only is sufficient. You’ve —.” She paused and looked at me in wonder.” You should, by now, be unable to do anything else but think of being speared. I’m tempted to alert Yil and tell him to clear all males out of —.”

“You’ll do no such thing!” I exclaimed with full power, pulling her door open. “I am sufficiently disciplined and self-controlled to fight this poison! I will go find Doret and find a cure for this mean trick!”
