I got the honour to chat with this actor, director and author about his 70 years in the entertainment business. And of course, his iconic role as Cigarette Smoking Man in the X Files.
How do you social?
On Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, Linkedin… actually that’s not what this is about.
How do you connect with other writers, with your tribe and with potential new readers?
I have two answers for you.
The first; Go Indie Now.
Yep, you’ve seen me mention the media platform Go Indie Now and the workaholic, Mr Joe Compton.
Joe has created a platform where the indie community can meet, chat have heated debates, get drunk at Joe’s bar (Just kidding) – no I’m not!
Find out about new indie films, books and what’s hot in the gaming community. These shows, panels, interviews, and reports are entertaining for the public and the indie community.
Authors, there is so much you can learn from those that have done it all. We’ve all made mistakes so learn from those that have tried and failed but don’t give up. Get tips and get the inside scoop on what’s going down in the indie world.
Have you always wondered what’s inside a writer’s mind? How do they build these magical, dangerous and extraordinary worlds? How do they come up with the characters you love, with the plot twists and write stories that will keep you turning the page and gasping for more?
You will find these answers and more on the media platform Go Indie Now. So please support Joe and all the hard work he does for the Indie community. Seriously, this man just never stops.
The reason I mention this in my article about being social, is I have made some wonderful connections and long-lasting friendships with indies I’ve met while being a guest on the shows. This then takes me to their safe place. Their group, where I’m welcomed and treated as one of the family. Thus creating more connections and friendships, thus learning more from my peers.
Please subscribe to The Go Indie Now YouTube channel and take a look at the shows he hosts. Watch and be entertained, leave a comment and like the videos.
Thanks, and remember, it’s always time to Go Indie Now
And my other way to socialize is not knowing who is Behind The Pen. (Did you see what I did just then. lol)
Podcasts, Zoom interviews, Radio shows, they are so hot right now. If you want to find new readers, you have to step up, show your face, and let us hear your voice. There are thousands out there waiting to hear about exciting new books and authors they have never heard of. The world is yours to conquer!
Okay – maybe I went a little too far with that last line. But I’m sure you understand what I’m trying to say. People don’t know you. They don’t know your name, they don’t know your books, and now you have a chance to be seen, heard and noticed.
If you’re camera-shy, contact podcasts and radio stations. If the camera loves you, get on some pannels, shows and interviews. Your readers are out there waiting.
It would result in chaos. But this is what Joshua Panttelerocso did.
Let me tell you something about Josh, I call him this after the name of his podcast Just Joshing. Josh is one of the most honest, open, and positive person I’ve had the pleasure to meet.
We have talked many times and he always leaves me in awe. I’d love to know what his IQ is!
Another thing you need to know is his mind is crazy. Full, of whacky ideas, Take for instance his latest release. Alice in wonderland mixed with Greek mythology and then instead of it being a novel, he writes it as a long poem.
Josh goes over the limit of imagination in this whimsical rendition of what was once Alice in wonderland. He turns everything upside down the characters are there, the gods and infamous legends of Greek mythology are there, but neither are who you know them to be.
Josh has twisted and framed the dream-like tale into something that should be impossible but will make total sense.
Take a look at his latest release Alice Won?: The Alice Pandemic Book 2
I had a chat with Josh, trying to get my head around such whacky idea. What would happen if Alice in Wonderland opened Pandora’s box.
Have a listen to my podcast Behind The Pen with my special guest Joshua Pantallresco
I spoke to Dawit Muluneh the author, who is also a Deacon to the Ethiopian orthodox church. His love for religion, languages and his country is to be commended. And he’s still learning, not making it easy on himself. But Dawit feels that he has more to learn, more to say and more to teach others.
He learnt about the history of his country which he left when he was seven. When the calling came, he returned to Ethiopia and lived in a monastery as he studied the religion. Through study and reading books, he learnt about Ethiopia’s rich history. Surprised with what he discovered, he’s adamant that others will learn about the Untold History of Ethiopia.
Dawit is very open and passionate to the cause and what he wants his books to portray.
He’s a Deacon and an author on a mission.
Watch our chat here.
You can find out more about his books and Deacon Dewit mission and news about his next release.

I spoke with Maanarak about her soon-to-be debut book. As authors, we always give a lot of ourselves in our stories and many are biographical.
Maanarak goes even further by writing poetry and these are powerful words that she spins into a tale of past experiences. She opens up her heart and leaves it on the page. Such a gift many would love to possess. Not only does she write this amazing poetry but she illustrates using her unique style to tell the story of the poem. And she doesn’t stop there. With each poem, besides it, she tells the truth behind the words.
If it wasn’t bad enough bearing your soul in poetry, to then write the story of where the words came from, is truly inspiring and terrifying at the same time and I take my hat off to her, (if I was wearing one) for being brave enough to let it all out. She doesn’t hide behind make-believe she tells it exactly how it is and that makes it so raw and honest.
Come and meet Maanarak, the lady Behind The Pen.
You can find Maanarak on Instagram and listen for the announcement of when this more than poetry book will be published.
If Amy Rivers had her way, she would stay and keep studying for as long as she’s able. But having your own business, a family, and being a full-time author, has halted her addiction…. for now.
Not only is Amy a successful author, she’s also a pro when it comes to internet marketing. She has a major in Philosophy and Political Science and many other academic achievements and still can’t make up her mind whether to become a lawyer or not.
Amy Rivers writes novels, short stories and personal essays. She is the Director of Northern Colorado Writers, and was chosen as 2021 Indie Author of the Year by the Indie Author Project.
Her novel All The Broken People was recently selected as the Colorado Author Project winner in the adult fiction category. She’s been published in We Got This: Solo Mom Stories of Grit, Heart, and Humor, Flash! A Celebration of Short Fiction, Chicken Soup for the Soul: Inspiration for Nurses, and Splice Today, as well as Novelty Bride Magazine and ESME.com.
In April 2021, Complicit, the first book in the A Legacy of Silence series was published. It recently won 2nd place in the 2021 CIPA EVVY Awards.
She was raised in New Mexico and now lives in Colorado with her husband and children. She holds degrees in psychology and political science, two topics she loves to write about.

Nikki Flynn is a writer, author, scriptwriter, director, cast director, audio sound engineer – I’m sure I’ve left something out??
When she got together with a Uni friend and decided to build a fantasy world, they had no idea how big it would get and that they would turn each episode into audio, with voice actors playing the parts of the characters.
With a large and loyal fan base, Nikki and Edwin Dantes keep bringing in the scripts and getting them out to their eager audience.
Anthologies of Ullord is a fantasy series that follows a wide array of characters. The perspectives of mortal travelers, inhabitants of different areas and the gods that govern the events of the realm all frame the larger story of the plane. The books and scripts tie into the audio fiction podcast of the same name.
Nikki is also working on solo projects like her magical pirate series, Chronicles of Fhaerythe and she’s just started working on book two of the Apotheosis, Book one being Grim. She’s got plenty of new ideas staying with the fantasy genre but may be moving away from YA.
I had a great chat with Nikki, but to understand the uniqueness and expanse of the world Edwin and Flynn have created, I would need more than an hour. Here’s the condensed (fiction) life of Nikki Flynn in 30 minutes.
The audio series is amazing to listen to with professional voice actors, music and special effects. So addictive!
Where to find the books and listen to the audio series.
Mark M Bello was 65 when he wrote his first crime thriller.
Back in the 80’s when he was an accident and injury attorney, a case landed the small law firm he ran with his partner, that later, he based his debut novel on.
Coming up to date, he now has 7 novels in the Zachary Blake Crime Thriller series. Each book is based on an injustice that’s happened in America. And Mark covers them all. And he doesn’t seemed to be slowing down either. Mark wants to entertain, while highlighting the facts of how the justice system works or doesn’t work when it comes to some important cases and issues that affect America.
However, Mark is not stopping at just adult thrillers. He’s even working on a children book series that talks about the injustice of what can happen in a child’s life, such as bullying, prejudice and so forth.
So remember the name, as Mark isn’t afraid to stand up (or write about) his opinions and what he truly believes. As the saying goes, ‘The Pen Is Mightier Than The Sword’ and Mark is proving that with the issues he’s taking on in his books.

Would you believe this is a title to a book? Oh, and a mystery spiritual romance of all genres.
Mary K Savarese is as quirky as the titles of her books. It’s the titles that inspire her to come up with a story, not the other way round.
Mary was lucky enough to see a Siberian tiger enjoy a huge vat bubble bath while the keeper sprayed Obsession perfume on its tongue. And if you think that a quirky and strange title, wait until you hear the next one.
Mary is such a positive and bubbly person it was a pleasure to talk about her books and future plans and just how exhausting writing and finding a publisher is.
Enjoy this episode of Behind The Pen.

And don’t forget to check out the reading for The Girl In The Toile Wallpaper. You might recognise the face sitting on the shelf.
