Mark M Bello was 65 when he wrote his first crime thriller.
Back in the 80’s when he was an accident and injury attorney, a case landed the small law firm he ran with his partner, that later, he based his debut novel on.
Coming up to date, he now has 7 novels in the Zachary Blake Crime Thriller series. Each book is based on an injustice that’s happened in America. And Mark covers them all. And he doesn’t seemed to be slowing down either. Mark wants to entertain, while highlighting the facts of how the justice system works or doesn’t work when it comes to some important cases and issues that affect America.
However, Mark is not stopping at just adult thrillers. He’s even working on a children book series that talks about the injustice of what can happen in a child’s life, such as bullying, prejudice and so forth.
So remember the name, as Mark isn’t afraid to stand up (or write about) his opinions and what he truly believes. As the saying goes, ‘The Pen Is Mightier Than The Sword’ and Mark is proving that with the issues he’s taking on in his books.
Would you believe this is a title to a book? Oh, and a mystery spiritual romance of all genres. Mary K Savarese is as quirky as the titles of her books. It’s the titles that inspire her to come up with a story, not the other way round.
Mary was lucky enough to see a Siberian tiger enjoy a huge vat bubble bath while the keeper sprayed Obsession perfume on its tongue. And if you think that a quirky and strange title, wait until you hear the next one.
Mary is such a positive and bubbly person it was a pleasure to talk about her books and future plans and just how exhausting writing and finding a publisher is.
Enjoy this episode of Behind The Pen.

Michael Scott Grant doesn’t hold anything back when it comes to his new novel Mulholland Men. With a background of script writing, being a stand up comedian, and having family that are known well in the courts, Michael was ready to write a controversial book about some of the biggest issues in America.
A magician kidnaps a police officer against the backdrop of BLM and uses him to close cold cases, pretending to be a psychic, becoming famous, even dating the imprisoned cop’s wife until he comes up against the case that could change is whole life forever, IF he doesn’t get caught first.
I had the opportunity to chat with Michael about his novel. He’s so real, honest and passionate about his book. The causes he’s writing about makes this book controversial and he is hoping that it will be noticed and read by the RIGHT people, that through this book he gets the message out. And he’s not just supporting these charities by writing about these issues in his thriller, but he’s giving them profits made from sales via his website.
On his website, there is also the opportunity to donate to one or all three of these charities, to read reviews, order the book, and also find information on how to contact Michael.
Violets Leap are a 4piece alternative rock band from north wales, UK.
Formed in early 2018 with a shared desire to make music that illustrates a range of influences but with its own recognisable sound. By summer 2018, the band had pulled together a short set of original material and began gigging around the local area.
Violets Leap combine elements of punk, metal, grunge, metal core, emo and more into their own brand of alternative rock. High energy and sweeping melodies are a strong feature on all tracks.
By autumn 2018, the sound and songs had matured enough to release their first EP, Ghost of Violet.
Early 2019 saw a return to the studio to release their second EP, ‘Broken Futures’. Four more edgy songs with intriguing stories and catchy melodies which were accompanied by a run of performances at clubs and festivals.
Late 2019 saw a return to the studio and the release of a third ‘Source of Addiction’, soon to be available on digital platforms.
What can I say about this track. Just wait until those drums and electric guitar come in. Awesome!
When I was chatting with the guys on FaceBook I asked them where they got their name from as it’s such an unusual name for a rock band. The story I got back deserved a mention. There was a woman named Violet, a con woman who managed to con a man out of a fortune by telling him she was coming into a large inheritance and would pay him back. Well sex and money, so no more. Only on the day, she was due to get this inheritance her car was found in the sea. It looked like a suicide, but a body was never found. She would have gotten away with it but she was seen and recognized in Scotland where she was hiding. So the cliff drop was named Violets Leap.
In this day and age where bands can’t go out and do live gigs or are in lockdown and can’t get to the studios, it’s more important than ever to support independent bands. So have a listen to Violets Leap’s music. Send them a message, buy their EP’s and show your support.

Dear readers, tonight with us is a marketing exec turned heir to a magical kingdom. She’s here to tell us about power and destiny.
Tell us a little about where you grew up. What was it like there?
Well, I’m from the UK, at least I thought I was. Turned out I was adopted and was born in Tsinia a magical land on Enumac. My adopted parents were amazing and gave me love and everything I needed. Thanks to them, I went to college and studied hard and then got a position in a prestigious Marketing firm and worked my way up before becoming an executive.
I was happy in my own way. I lived by myself in a converted loft in the centre of town and was single and I thought my life path was set. But little did I know that everything I thought was real was just an illusion and everything I knew as truth, was, in fact, a lie,
What do you do now?
Now I’m Queen of Tsinia, my real home. Guardians to the Changlins (the sacred stones.) When I found out who I was, it took a lot to finally accept my rightful destiny. I was very stubborn, well I still am. But I refused to take the crown and demanded they send me back home. Especially when I found out what they had planned for me. Can you imagine, waking up in a strange land, being told you are the heir and you have magical powers and that you’re to marry an evil warlord’s son, which it was said, he was the one who slew my parents, the rulers of Tsinia (the Ganties.)
I didn’t know these Tsinians and yet their govern committee decided that an alliance between the two lands, Senx and Tsinia would create peace and I was supposed to be the cement. So stubborn me refused their plans and to meet with Darthorn and my decision caused death and destruction. Knowing what I do, If I could have gone back, I would have done things a lot differently.
My second guest on today’s show is NYT bestselling author, Tosca Lee. I’ll be chatting with her about her latest release, First Born, the concluding part of the YA thriller series The Descendants Of The House of Bathory, collaborating with Ted Decker, and her somewhat controversial books about the biblical characters of Eve and Judas.
Join me and my guests, live, today Fri at 1pm EST.
My first guest on today’s show is the wonderfully talented KJHowe author of the NYT bestseller, The Freedom Broker. We will be chatting about her latest novel Skyjack and June’s Thriller Fest.
Praise for The Freedom Broker.
“Unparalleled storytelling by K.J.Howe. Filled with excitement that never stops. I wish I could write as well.”
~ Clive Cussler #1 NYT Bestseller.
“The Freedom Broker combines terrific thriller writing and fascinating re=search about hostage rescues. This is fact and fiction at its best!”
“The Blind Alien is a story with a highly original concept, fascinating
characters, and not-too-subtle but truthful allegories. Don’t let the
sci-fi label or alternate Earth setting fool you–this is a
compelling and contemporarily relevant story about race, sex, and
social classes.”–Raymond Benson, Former James Bond novelist and
author of the Black Stiletto books
Told with one of the most original styles you’ll ever experience, The
Blind Alien begins when Dr. Malcolm Renbourn, a young history
teacher, walks into an ordinary bank on an ordinary day. Suddenly, he
feels excruciating pain. Unexpectedly, he loses his sight and
discovers he has been drawn against his will across the multi-verse
to a slave-holding country on a parallel earth. He doesn’t understand
a single word he hears, but he soon learns Betan scientists hope his
body carries the cure to an ancient plague that kills 3out
of 4 male babies their first year.
Branded state property, he must escape, but where can a blind man in a
strange world dominated by desperate scientists run? And on a world
where polygamy is the norm, how can a fugitive alien adapt into
becoming the husband of five independent wives who never expected to
be the mothers of a generation a planet hopes carry the genes that
will change everything? How can Tribe Renbourn survive the aftermath
of a catastrophic explosion that kills thousands?
And that’s just part of the story.
“A most commendable and unique novel. I can honestly say I have not come
across anything quite like it. The Blind Alien follows the life of an
unremarkable man who by some twist of fate is pulled from his world,
into that of one parallel . . . What follows is a story of rebellion,
politics, love, science, and religion . . . without a doubt, this is
an admirably well crafted piece of work, that was both entertaining
and very thought provoking.”–Tosin
Coker, author of The Chronicles of Zauba’ah
Immerse yourself in an extraordinary universe revealed by the most original
storytelling you’ll ever experience. “Science fiction yes, but so
much more.”
Besides his 33 years in the classroom, Dr. Wesley Britton considers his
Beta-Earth Chronicles the most important work he’s ever done. “I
suppose an author profile is intended to be a good little biography,”
Britton says, “but the best way to know who I am is to read my novels.”
Still, a few things you might like to know about Wes include the fact he’s
the author of four non-fiction books on espionage in the media, most
notably The Encyclopedia of TV Spies (2009). Beginning in 1983, he
was a widely published poet, article writer for a number of
encyclopedias, and was a noted scholar of American literature. Since
those days, for sites like BlogCritics.org and BookPleasures.com,
Britton wrote over 500 music, book, and movie reviews. For seven
years, he was co-host of online radio’s Dave White Presents for which
he contributed celebrity interviews with musicians, authors, actors,
and entertainment insiders.
Starting in fall 2015, his science fiction series, The Beta-Earth Chronicles,
debuted with The Blind Alien. Throughout 2016, four sequels followed
including The Blood of Balnakin, When War Returns, A Throne for an
Alien, and The Third Earth. Return to Alpha will be the sixth volume
of this multi-planetary epic.
Britton earned his doctorate in American Literature at the University of
North Texas in 1990. He taught English at Harrisburg Area Community
College until his retirement in 2016. He serves on the Board of
Directors for Vision Resources of Central Pennsylvania. He lives with
his one and only wife, Betty, in Harrisburg, PA.
