Wattpad? What?

Here’s what you need to know before I start throwing out numbers. It is a fact now that the writers on Wattpad are not kids and that many of the stories on Wattpad are not suitable for kids. That is why Wattpad has a mature label for adult stories.

Yes, Wattpad started as kids writing fan fiction, and even though there is still fan fiction written, ( Yes, I have partaken in this) that is just a tiny percentage now, compared to before.

I’m an avid, well more like addicted reader on Wattpad and I have a pen name for my fan-fiction and I use my own name for my novel work.

The Wattpad app came out in 2008 – 14 years ago.

90 million readers use Wattpad.

Wattpad stories are available in over 50 languages.

Even though most of the stories on there are free to read, their paid book users have spent half a billion minutes reading the paid books. On average there are 30 million minutes of reading every month from these paid books.

I have read stories on Wattpad that can easily rival a bestseller.

Wattpad authors have gone on to receive publishing contacts and many, more every year, get picked up by TV or film producers.

So, back in 2015 many took part in a Wattpad challenge called A to Z of Wattpad. I have decided in recognition of how frigging AWESOME Wattpad is, I would resurrect this challenge. And if any Wattpad readers or writers happen to see this blog, I challenge you to post your A to Z of Wattpad.

LET’S DO THIS!

Support needed

Hey everyone. So there is only a few hours left on this Thunderclap campaign and I want to prove that when an indie author asks for help, the community will answer.

Independence day – Resurgence

Film  Review

Okay, so it was never going to be as good as the first. The first film was fresh, new and had the witty one liners from the brilliant Will Smith. And although he was missing from the film, they did have familiar faces playing the same character roles. Unfortunately, some are only cameo roles as they get killed off early.

The special effects were great, if not some a little over done. What you didn’t get is the feeling of doom, as you did in the first film. Yes, the aliens are back. Yes, the world is going to end. But it was so similar to the first movie, that it felt like they were just going through the motions. There was no grabbing onto the edge of your seat, very few witty one liners and it was all too familiar.
That’s what brings me to the cringey part of the film. The same ‘they will not take away our independence’ speech, the same one manned plane, taking out the alien mother ship, the same tentacle grabbing alien wrapping around a person’s throat to enable it to speak, was all replayed.
The most memorable part of the film, was being allowed to see the aliens close up, especially the actual mother/queen. And the film ended on a high note, hinting that there could be a number three, or even a whole bunch of other films, running off the original story.
It was an enjoyable film, but for the fans of the first film, don’t expect too much.
Independence Day – Resurgence gets a  ****   4 out of 5 from me
