One angel to bind you, one angel to save you.
Sky Heavensent, an angel of death, is charged with the collection of souls of the recently departed. Known to his peers and immediate supervisor, the archangel Gabriel, as the liability, Sky puts his heart and soul into everything he does.
When he meets Caleb Pierce, Sky is immediately smitten. The problem is Caleb is the soul he came to earth to harvest, and saving him means breaking one of the most sacred angelic directives.
Already in too deep, Sky pushes aside the consequences and follows his heart. Danger and mayhem follow, but he will do everything in his power to protect his lavender-eyed man.
Lavender Fields by Natalina Reis has been a brilliant and lovely read. Sky is an angel of death, sent to claim the souls meant for heaven. When he is sent for the soul of Caleb he becomes completely smitten with him and saves him instead. Knowing the consequences of his actions he is still unprepared for being put in the middle of something a bit more sinister. But Sky knows that, no matter what, he will protect Caleb at all costs.
I loved this story. The Angel aspect of it was great and made for an intriguing story. It also helped create the beautiful loving atmosphere between Sky and Caleb. Their relationship is charming, sexy and precious. Calebs sister is hilarious as well as endearing and you can see why Sky also falls for her and wants to protect her like his own sister.
The description of the Angel realm is brilliant and something I would like to read more about as well as Sky and Calebs relationship.
This story depicts a homosexual relationship, even though angels are portrayed as relatively gender less. I am a heterosexual female and I thoroughly enjoyed this story. Sexuality, even though I have mentioned it here, is not made into a big issue in the story, it is just a beautiful, angelic love story that has sacks of charm and also a bit of danger and mayhem.
The author has a certain magic to their writing as this book gave off an incredible atmosphere that pulled me into reading it one sitting.
I will be on the lookout out for more by this author for sure. A brilliant read.

Author of We Will Always Have the Closet, Desert Jewel, and Loved You Always, Natalina wrote her first romance in collaboration with her best friend at the age of 13. Since then she has ventured into other genres, but romance is first and foremost in almost everything she writes.
After earning a degree in tourism and foreign languages, she worked as a tourist guide in her native Portugal for a short time before moving to the United States. She lived in three continents and a few islands, and her knack for languages and linguistics led her to a master’s degree in education. She lives in Virginia where she has taught English as a Second Language to elementary school children for more years than she cares to admit.
Natalina doesn’t believe you can have too many books or too much coffee. Art and dance make her happy and she is pretty sure she could survive on lobster and bananas alone. When she is not writing or stressing over lesson plans, she shares her life with her husband and two adult sons.

“Are angels allowed to date humans?” he asked suddenly, a faint blush spreading across his cheeks.
I looked around. Realizing the others had left us alone on the beach, I unfurled my white wings fully and, like a peacock, strutted them shamelessly. Then I tilted his chin up and kissed him, slowly and timidly at first, not sure of what his reaction would be. But his lips hungrily devoured mine. My angelic body turned to mush as his arms encircled my waist and pulled me against him. I buried my fingers into the silky folds of his black hair, drawing him closer. Folding my wings around us like a protective cocoon, I allowed myself a moment of total selfishness.
I didn’t want to go and, for a moment, I considered handing in my resignation and becoming a mere mortal so I could spend a few years loving this human. His lips tasted of milk and honey, better than anything I had ever tasted before. I wanted to linger on them, savoring him, craving more of him. I wanted to lose myself in the lavender fields of his eyes. But of course I couldn’t. Not right then. Not yet. I had a soul to collect.
I sighed, ending the kiss. “I have to go, Caleb,” I said. “Souls to save and all that.”
Caleb brushed his hand across my face in a tender yet electrifying caress. “Wings aside,” he said, hot gaze meeting mine, “you are the most beautiful man I have ever met.”
A silly smile stretched across my lips. “I’ll be back,” I whispered, standing reluctantly. “Give me your full name and I’ll find you.” I had Heaven’s complete directory of living souls, after all.
“Caleb Pierce,” he said, kissing me one last time.
With a great flap of my wings, I flew away, my heart already longing for Caleb’s eyes. I would harvest my assigned soul and come back to his arms. I watched him from above as he waved at me and then walked the few yards to the beach’s parking lot, climbed on his motorcycle, and drove away.
Taking a deep breath, I dug in my pocket for the name and address of the soul I was to harvest. The small piece of vellum was rolled into a tight little cylinder that I fought to unroll. I hoped I hadn’t made the soul wait too long. It was five after six in the afternoon, and the sun was starting to descend into the ocean.
